A quick interview with Cindy Wilschutt, 2nd Place Women’s Transformation in the New Year 2016 Challenge!

Q: Give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

I love running and used to run quite often, even complete 2 OMTOM half marathons.  But then I had a baby #2 and life took over and I made no time for myself and my running became non-existent. I definitely made lots of excuses and sugary treats was the only thing that made me feel good, well for a moment then I needed my next fix. Two Oceans half marathon was approaching and I really wanted to run this race and also improve my running time. I decided to stop making excuses and just start running again, one day and step at a time. Since doing the challenge,  I  manage to run OMTOM  again and even managed to cut 17mins off my time!

Q: What prompted you to join the Ultimate You Transformation Challenge?

My sister mentioned this challenge to me just before my 33rd birthday. She basically told me that we doing it and that our heat starts the 18th January. My birthday being the 15 January, it just felt right. I needed to shed a few kilos and definitely needed to start feeling good about myself again, so it really sounded like a really good idea to get me motivated again.

Q: Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

REBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT!! I successfully completed 30 days of the Sleekgeek REBOOT and managed to shed 6kg. I then continued certain principles of Reboot but added dairy on the weekends. I definitely will be doing Reboot with the next challenge too.

Q: Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I run an average of 10km  3 times a week. I have also signed up with a functional fitness bootcamp which incorporates a lot of strength training.

Q: Did you use any supplements or do anything else worth mentioning to help you get results?

This is the very first time that I lost weight by just eating clean without any quick fixes. Such a great feeling!

Q: If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

  1. Never compare yourself to someone else, we are all different.
  2. Stop making excuses.
  3. Just do it!

Q: What did you find most valuable about your experience?

The support I received from #teamcarlimeltaways was amazing! It was so amazing having a support system with like minded people. It kept me accountable and taking pics of my meals really helped! Reading all the success stories on the Sleekgeek page really motivated me as well. I just wanted to get to the Ultimate Me.

I loved being a part of a community of people who is constantly motivating you to be the best version of yourself. I have registered for my very first full marathon, 42.2km in September and am training hard. I look forward to starting the next challenge. Thank you Elan and your team!
