A quick interview with Hennie Harding, 1st Place Men’s Transformation in the New Year 2016 Challenge!
Q: Give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I had a very unhealthy life style, travelling long distances a lot and made used of take away and energy drinks to stay awake on the road. I was also addicted to coke and did not realize how unhealthy my life style is, till I changed my eating habits.
Q: What prompted you to join the Ultimate You Transformation Challenge?
I was always healthy and active in sports, but I allowed work to change my life style. I needed a challenge and motivation to get my body back into shape.
Q: Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I followed the Ultimate challenge Banting option, which worked very effectively and a very easy plan to follow. Then changed after 4 weeks to low carb, moderate protein and no sugar diet. Limited tea, coffee and lots of water and only diet cool drink.
Q: Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Weight training with a personal trainer x5 week and daily cardio of minimum of 20 minutes.
Q: Did you use any supplements or do anything else worth mentioning to help you get results?
CLA, L-Carnitine, and Whey protein.
Q: If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Don’t try to diet, make it a lifestyle.
- Try to eat and exercise with a partner or buddy.
- Never say “I can’t do it or I don’t have time”, I also thought I don’t have time to exercise. I have my own business and time is money, but I make time in the early morning and I love it.
Q: What did you find most valuable about your experience?
I feel great about my body; have so much energy and a positive mind set. I really enjoyed having this experience with my wife and the quality time we spend together, talking nutrition and healthy life style and exercising together was defiantly most valuable. We will continue with this healthy life style.
