A quick interview with Martin Greyvenstein, 3rd Place Men’s Transformation in the New Year 2016 Challenge!
Q: Give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
Before I use to start with a diet and training, but the longest it last was 3 weeks. Always eating unhealthy things like chips, chocolates, cooldrinks, sugar in coffee.
Q: What prompted you to join the Ultimate You Transformation Challenge?
My friend entered and won another competition that ran over 12 weeks. I decided I wanted to enter too and ended up entering the Ultimate You Challenge as I could not wait another 3 weeks for the other competition to start.
Q: Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I followed the Paleo low carb diet. Eating at least 90% to the plan and adding here and there other things. Only certain spices and sauces with no sugar and low fat content.
Q: Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I used the Ultimate You Fitness 101 exercise program. I loved it. It starts at slower pace and weekly gets more intense. That’s very nice. I battled to get 5 days every week, but I then joined 2 group muscles if I did not have an extra day in week.
Q: Did you use any supplements or do anything else worth mentioning to help you get results?
Only used CLA and Daily vitamins. Tried to eat clean and train dirty.
Q: If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Train with a partner that can help and train just as hard as you.
- Prepare mentally.
- Set a goal every week.
Q: What did you find most valuable about your experience?
I learned a lot from info given by SG on eating and training. I also tried reading up from internet and magazines about eating and training. The biggest thing is people out there think that you have to do cardio to lose weight. But weight training can help a lot to slim down and lose weight.
